I'm a London based artist & gilder, creating bespoke gold & silver leaf wall art. Using traditional decorative gilding techniques I water gild by hand onto raised and carved gesso panels. Traditional water gilding is a difficult and time consuming technique which has remained virtually unchanged for hundreds of years. It allows you to highlight raised areas of gilding by polishing with an agate stone burnisher to create a shiny, almost mirror like finish.

Gold leaf is gold that is beaten into super thin sheets, so incredibly fine that it cannot be handled, only picked up using a gilder’s tip. Gold leaf is available in many different colours and carats depending on the mix of gold. In my work I mainly use 22 carat yellow gold and moon gold leaf, 19 carat caplain gold and palladium leaf. The colours painted underneath the gold also determine the colours.

Inspired by the natural world, my work features nature, bees, butterflies, dragonflies & plants.
